Max had seen a lot of strange things and stranger people since leaving Earth, but a few things always held true no matter where Sam took him. Eyes, for instance. Snailmen, frog people, bird monsters - everyone had eyes. And an experienced cop like Max could always feel eyes on him when he was being watched. That was another constant: betrayal. Everyone had eyes to see and a voice to lie with. He knew Jey had seen through his cover and sold him out. Well, that was fine by him. He was tired of creeping around undercover, questioning tourists, and apologizing to glorified mall cops with weird gurgling voices. He saw an alley and turned into it, slowly, deliberately. There was going to be a fight either way - he might as well draw the fuckers into a bottleneck first. Put a few of them on the ground before they managed to fry him with their death rays or whatever.
