Oh, don't feel bad. This isn't THAT embarrassing - it's a simple cultural misunderstanding, that's all. If it makes you feel better, I'll tell you the most embarrassing thing that I've ever done. You have to promise not to tell anyone else, though, okay? All right. Once, early in my apprenticeship, I incorrectly interpreted a series of secondhand accounts and mistakenly determined that a lost worker's spirit was wandering amidst the fungus near a remote village. I rushed out there to lead it home, eager to do a good deed and acquire some field experience, and spent three days lost among the stalks before I finally sighted the thing. After all that, I discovered that the "lost spirit" the villagers had seen was not a spirit at all, but a playful gleam-kite! I was pretty crestfallen, let me tell you. It took me another day to find my way out of the fungus, too. At least I got a great pet out of the experience. I still miss Prudence. I've never met a friendlier gleam-kite.
