Jey was an unknown quantity. A chaos factor. Nobody's that attractive, polite, and good-natured all the time unless they're trying to sell something for too much or get something for free. They had to be playing the long game. Waiting and watching. I didn't know what Jey was after, but I knew they'd probably get it, and get away with it, too. It was impossible to stay mad at them. My eyes met Sam's as we listened to the message. We could hear the undertones of a hidden meaning, but it was corrupted, unreadable, lost in the signal noise of cultural and linguistic incompatibility. We sat there, lost in an alien Tower of Babel, and ate our cigarettes in silence.

I kinda missed Jey. Did you miss Jey? I missed Jey. Something about them just makes them the perfect foil to Max’s grouchy yet idealistic pragmatism and Sam’s, uh, Sam-ness.
